AFCONS Infrastructure Ltd (AFCONS), the infrastructure arm of Shapoorjl Pallonji Group, has won the prestigious International World Quality Commitment (WQC) 2009 award organized by Business Initiative Directions, Paris. This recognition is based on the criteria of the QC100 quality model, implemented in over 100 countries.

The company’s MD, K Subrahmanian, received the WQC trophy for Quality, Technology and Innovation in the presence of business leaders from over 100 countries, who attended the 23rd annual World Quality Commitment Convention held on September 20- 21, 2009, at a glittering ceremony in the Concorde La Fayette Hotel. The convention is part of the annual program of B.I.D. (Business Initiative Directions) Awards, designed to recognize outstanding companies organizations and businessmen across the world. The award evaluates a company under 15 different parameters and takes account best of the selection processes followed on the lines of Nobel Prize and Oscar awards.

Before this international audience, covered by photographic and digital media correspondents, K Subrahmanian was granted the WQC Award by the President of Business Initiative Directions, Jose E. Prieto, an honor only bestowed upon the top business leaders from around the world.

Former global winners of the award include: Turner Construction and Franklin Electric (US), Russian Space Research Agency Khrunichev, Korea Electric Power, Alcoa (France), Cooparaiso (Brazil), Haki AB (Sweden), Ansaldo (Italy), Zepter Internation (Austria), Eybl International AG (Austria-Germany), Rao Ues (Russia), King Fahd Industrial Port – Yanbu (Saudi Arabia), Gart Foil Mill (Bahrain), Cofco (China) and Inventec Electronics Sdn. Bhd. ( Malaysia).
